Eleanor F. Small, Ph.D. is the Product Innovation Team Lead for Kenvue's Global Over-the-Counter Medicine Division. Prior to Kenvue's spin-off from Johnson and Johnson, she was a Principal Scientist for J&J Consumer Health in End-to-End Product Development and Life Cycle Management.

Dr. Small leads global cross-functional teams responsible for product design/development, scale up, launch, and life-cycle management of new and current products. She started her career at Johnson & Johnson Consumer Health 10 years ago and worked with both Oral Care and Wound Care Product Development supporting J&J’s iconic Listerine®, Band-Aid® and Neosporin® brands.

Dr. Small received her BSE in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering from Johns Hopkins University in 2006 and earned her PhD in Chemical and Biological Engineering from Drexel University in 2012.

Eleanor, more often called Ellie, firmly believes education does not end at graduation. She is passionate about STEM education, especially for young women. During her graduate studies, Ellie received an NSF GK-12 fellowship to work with Philadelphia public high school teachers to enhance STEM curriculum. After starting at J&J, she joined their Women In Science and Engineering (WISE) employee group.

Ellie has also served on the board of directors of the International Society of Pharmaceutical Engineers' Delaware Valley Chapter since 2014 culminating in her Chapter Presidency from 2020-2022 which earned her ISPE's "International Member of the Year" honors.

Ellie's drive to support others extends beyond her field of engineering as well. Since 2013, Ellie has served as the chapter council adviser to Princeton University’s chapter of her fraternity, Kappa Kappa Gamma, and she supports her fellow Kappa alumnae by serving on the Philadelphia Alumnae Association Foundation. She was the President of the organization from 2016-2019 and is currently the Membership Chair. In 2019, Dr. Small was awarded the 2019 Delaware Valley Young Engineer of the Year for her contributions professionally, academically, and socially. One of Ellie’s favorite secrets to success is building loyal and supporting partnerships. Her number one supporter and main partner is her college sweetheart and husband, David Small, who also happens to be a fellow chemical engineer.
